I design and advise green spaces that are beautiful to live with because they also make ecological and cultural sense.
A successful green space is more than a collection of plants. It is a living relationship among people, wildlife, water, food, materials, culture, and the particular conditions of a place. My work combines environmental science, ethnobotany, landscape planning, biological knowledge, art, and practical systems thinking.

Designed for the actual place
I consider regional climate and ecology, but design decisions also depend on the immediate microclimate: sunlight and shade, reflected heat, wind, moisture, drainage, building surfaces, neighboring structures, and how people move through and care for the space. I also consider local wildlife, ethnobotany, food traditions, cultural meaning, available materials, maintenance, safety, and the client's everyday needs.
This can mean a wildlife-supporting roof at a hospital, herbs and fruit for a music venue, an indoor aquaponics feature, a green wall, a community food system, or a small personal space that helps someone encounter nature every day.

These examples show how I make complex living systems understandable to clients as well as ecologically purposeful. Other work has included community aquaponics and food-growing concepts, ethnobotanical learning spaces made from locally available materials, and mentorship for indoor landscapes combining plants, water, wood, rock, and light.
Remote or in person
I can work remotely through photographs, measurements, plans, video walkthroughs, climate information, interviews, and collaborative review. When location and project needs allow, I can also work in person for site observation, workshops, design development, or team mentoring.
